Corona Renderer 2 for 3DS Max is released by the Render Legion. and available for purchase at the pricse of €24.99 a month (3 render nodes).

Here are the most notable features of the new product:

  • One of the biggest new improvement in Corona 2 is support for heterogeneous media to render smoke, fire, liquid and other effects. PhoenixFD, FumeFX, OpenVDB and Max’s native 3D Volume Materials are now supported as well as the other numerous plugins and formats.
  • The other major feature is V-Ray materials and lights support. Now you can render scenes created in V-Ray 3.6 and above in Corona 2. For this release Corona supports plane, disc, mesh and sphere lights and VRayMtl but the other materials of V-Ray will also be supported in the future.
  • Corona’s free material library contains 110 new materials and the whole library has been reworked. Real World scale is used as is the CoronaTriPlanar map in appropriate cases.
  • Corona Camera has been updated with new Bokeh controls for Center Bias. Vignetting and Anisotropy and Corona now works with the same parameters in 3DS Max’s built-in physical camera as well.
  • Among the other minor improvements there are a reduce in memory consumption for 5-10%, faster and more effective motion blur, faster rendering of the Shadow Catcher, improved denoise of bump maps and others.  
  • And last but not least - Corona  2 is the first release that has a new version strategy. The next release will be Corona 3 and there will be not releases between versions 2 and 3.

Recently Chaos Group on the Total Chaos event in the city of Sofia, Bulgaria has announced that V-Ray Next is now released and available to purchase.

V-Ray Next workstation license will cost $1180, current license upgrade will cost $580 and annual rental can be purchased for $470.


Here are the most notable features of the new product:

 

  • Up to 25% speed improvements of overall rendering performance.
  • Brand new architecture of GPU render is suppose to double the speed of render.
  • Volumetric effects, environment fog and VRScans materials got accelerated GPU support.
  • NVIDIA Al Denoiser and the ability of render elements to be denoised were added.
  • Alembic 1.7 including layering is now supported.
  • A new V-Ray Plugin and Texture tool was added, which enables to load any texture or material from all the V-Ray versions into 3Ds Max, including procedural textures and PBR materials for such engines as Unreal and Unity.
  • A new Adaptive Dome Light simplify the process of setting lighting by removing the need to set up skylight portals in windows and openings, moreover it is up to 7 time faster then previous.
  • Lighting analysis tools were also added to measure the light levels in a scene using data overlays and heat maps.
  • Automatic exposure and white balance have been added to the V-Ray physical camera and the UI has been significantly simplified.
  • A new V-Ray Switch allows to change between several materials, which are applied to an object.
  • Physical Hair material based on a research adds sliders to regulate glossiness, softness, randomness, melanin controls change colour and hair dye settings to colour hair and make it look as realistic as possible.
